Privacy Policy

EchoDare is designed around local scoring. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is sent to our services, and what happens when you choose to share a take.

Microphone and local recordings

EchoDare uses microphone access to record your sound imitation. Scoring happens on your iPhone. The temporary recording stays on the device during the active session and is removed when the session is cleared. It is not uploaded by default.

Friend challenge data

When you create a challenge, we process a persistent anonymous app identifier, the official sound identifier, your score, the selected sharing option, creation time, and expiration time. We do not require your name, account, contacts, or precise location.

Challenge links work like bearer links: anyone who receives a valid link may open the challenge. Do not share a link more broadly than you intend.

Optional Share My Take upload

If you explicitly choose Share My Take, EchoDare creates and uploads a 7.5-second MP4 share video containing the official sound, your recorded imitation, and your score. Anyone with the complete challenge link can watch that video. Choosing Share Score Only uploads no recording or video.

Uploaded videos are stored privately in Cloudflare R2 and are delivered through short-lived signed URLs after the challenge link is validated. Challenge metadata is processed in Supabase, and the Web service is hosted by Vercel.

Retention and deletion

A challenge stops being available seven days after creation. Expired videos and associated challenge records are removed by the next daily cleanup run, normally within 24 hours after expiration. Operational backups maintained by our infrastructure providers may take additional time to cycle out under their standard retention schedules.

To request earlier removal or report a shared take, email support@echodare.app and include the challenge link. Do not attach the original recording.

Analytics and notifications

We use Firebase Analytics for limited product-interaction events, such as whether core play and sharing steps work. We do not send recordings, video, contacts, challenge links, media tokens, names, or private text to analytics. EchoDare does not use this data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Notification permission is requested only if you choose the Daily Duel reminder feature.

Service providers and processing

Vercel, Supabase, Cloudflare, and Google Firebase process limited data on our behalf to provide hosting, database, private media storage, security, and analytics. Their infrastructure may process data in countries other than your own.

Your choices

• Choose Share Score Only to avoid uploading your take.
• Keep challenge links private and send them only to intended recipients.
• Remove the app to delete remaining local anonymous app data.
• Contact us to request early challenge removal or ask a privacy question.
